  • The geothermal system is a hydronic system that heat and chills water to feed the (3) hydronic air handlers. The (3) air handlers all have to be in the same mode as the tank will either be fully heated or fully chilled. The system uses water to heat and cool the home. The main geothermal system is controlled by the hydro zone stat located in the stone room. This is where you set the tank temperature and the mode of the system. Once set to heat or cool the other thermostats can be set to the appropriate modes.
  • When first switched to heat or cool, the geothermal takes time to get to a fully heated or chilled tank. There are safeties that prolong the tank from heating and cooling to prevent the system from locking out.
  • The upstairs unit is controlled by the thermostat in the upper hallway. The main level and basement are controlled with a "zoned system" that has (3) thermostats. The garage unit is controlled via a remote.
  • The main level has a dehumidifier that is controlled with a stat in the mechanical room. It has a filter that is changed (2) times per year. Both main systems have IAQ air filters that are changed 1 or 2 times per year. The main level also has a whole home air cleaner with a UV bulb that is changed once per year.
  • The geothermal system is tied into the water heater storage tank and produces "free" hot water that preheats the tankless water heater all year long.
  • The system is to be maintained at 40-60 psi for the water side of the system. This is achieved via a ball valve and is maintained with maintenance. Maintenance is recommended 2 times per year.
