About Mississippi

Mississippi got its name from the famous river that runs through the United States and spills from the state and into the Gulf Coast. Mississippi is popular amongst music and culture fanatics as they’re thrilled with the state’s unique sub-cultures, such as the Delta Blues music genre. This music was spawned from the Mississippi Delta region over a hundred years ago. While the Blues have been traced to a number of different locations, the Delta area is by far one of the historically richest.

The oldest Mississippi city, Natchez, is one of the most notable sites to explore for history buffs. This city sits at the end of the Natchez Trace Parkway. Nearby is the famous Indian Emerald Ceremonial Mound, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mississippi also features a number of notable Civil War Battlegrounds. It’s home to Vicksburg, Brices Cross Roads, and the Tupelo National Battlefield. These sites gather swarms of tourists and Civil War buffs each year, where they sometimes retrace the steps of soldiers on the battlefield and even reenact the battles.

Elvis Presley was born in Mississippi, which is unbeknownst to many, seeing as he gained most of his fame in Nashville. Two very well-known 20th century Southern fiction writers were also from Mississippi: William Faulkner and Eudora Welty.

One major industry in Mississippi that’s mostly unique to the state is catfish. Most of the farmed and harvested catfish in the United States come from Mississippi. Catfish farming is actually one of the most lucrative ways for locals to earn a living.

World Champion and Hall of Famer Allen Crouch Horse Operation

Noxapater, Winston County, Mississippi

If you make a living in the horse business or want to, then this 32 +/- acre property in Winston County, MS is the place for you. You may be in the business and need better facilities and more space, or if you’re working on the road and want to be home everyday working on your own farm with your family, then you need to take a hard look at the possibilities here. This is not just a wonderful farm to live on with unbelievable facilities, a great home, stocked fishing pond, and in a great part of Mississippi, but also an investment and business opportunity. A chance to run your own show, be your own boss, and make a heck of a good living. In the not too distant past, when this place was running on all cylinders, there were 40 horses being trained here at $1,100 per horse, per month, it can handle up to 50. Do the math and you can realize a very significant return on investment. Business has slowed now only because the NCHA World Champion and Hall of Famer cutting horse trainer and owner, Allen Crouch, has decided to shift gears and work on his other farm. This property has everything you could ever imagine for a horse and set up for cattle as well, with fenced pastures and plenty of barns, arenas, walkers, stalls, catch pens and shoots. All of this and a nice 2,025 sq. ft, 4BR/2BA home and a 1999 2BR/1BA mobile home used for a caretakers’ home. As I said, this place has everything you could ever want or need for a horse. Starting with the main barn, it is set up with 16 stalls (each with power outlets and water), a medicine room with a bathroom, sink and heater, tac room and wash rack with hot and cold water. There is also a covered feed bin that holds four tons of feed and has a sloped floor, making it much easier to feed. Four of the 16 stalls in the main barn are located outside on the south side of the barn, these are large stalls measuring 14’x24’. Walk through the barn and straight into the 100’x100’ lighted indoor arena. The arena is constructed of all metal, has four large fans and six more stalls connected to it. Just behind the arena you will find eight more stalls. That is a total of 30 horse stalls, and all are under one roof with the barn and arena. Behind the eight stalls is a drop shed that can hold 2,000 square bales of hay. It doesn’t stop there. Out beside the main barn is a 40’x40’ – six horse covered walker, which is very rare. Next to it is the 100’x125’ open arena with a 26’x120’ covered cattle/colts working pen, this area has many uses. Below the open arena is a 40’x140’ covered cattle pen. There is a 20’x40’ feed shed, and two shavings buildings. A couple more features to the farm that must be mentioned are the double decker loading shoot and the four turn-outs. The turn-outs allow a place for the horses to get out and play some, instead of staying in the stalls or saddled up all the time. (The arena at front of the property, near road, does not stay with the property.) The entire property is fenced, and all works great together. It is set up with a nice flow with the fences, gates and shoots. The water is supplied with a private well, but also has community water available if needed. This is a turn-key operation just waiting for its new owner. The 2,025 sq. ft, 4BR/2BA home, built in 1988, really completes this farm. You can live comfortably in the ranch style home. Live where you work, the current owners lived here from 1996 - 2017. Through the years they have done some remodeling to the bathrooms adding Mexican tile, knocked a wall out between the den and breakfast area giving it a more open layout, and added a metal roof ten years ago. All the windows and sliding glass doors have been replaced within the last six years and the septic tank was pumped out and all lines cleared this year. Custom built cypress cabinets were added to the kitchen, along with cypress walls in the den and wood tongue and groove walls in the kitchen and living room. All of the appliances stay with house, including the washer and dryer. The home is on community water and lies in the Noxapater School District. There is also a well supplying water to the barns. The views are spectacular from the front and back. The home sits way off the road with beautiful pasture in the front, and a 4+/- acre stocked lake in the back. It was stocked 15 years ago and offers some great fishing. This is a solid house that has been well taken care of through the years.

Welcome to the Farm, Amazing Equestrian Estate

Amory, Monroe County, Mississippi

Turn-key equestrian estate in the highly sought after Hatley School District in Monroe County, MS. If you have ever dreamed of having your own mini farm, in the perfect country setting, wake up because here it is! This property is simply breathtaking...from the newly remodeled modern farm-style home, to the horse barn and outbuildings, to the manicured grounds and fishing pond, this place is where dreams come true. The 2,400 sq. ft, 3BR/2.5BA home sits on 22.5 +/- beautiful acres on a quiet dead end road in Hatley, MS. Enter through the iron gate and enjoy your journey up the asphalt drive, looking over the white fenced horse pasture and spring-fed fishing pond. The home is tucked way off the road, allowing for much needed privacy. Whether you like lounging by the inground swimming pool, tending to your horses or hunting whitetail deer in the hardwoods, there is surely something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Another very cool feature is the two-story double garage with apartment upstairs, a useful addition to the property. Places like this are a rare find! Do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment for your own private tour. The original home was built in the 1980’s, but underwent a total transformation in 2017 with a complete remodel and the addition of the kitchen and living area. Everything was updated leaving no resemblance of the original home. It is now 2,400+ sq. ft with 3BR/2.5BA and is simply stunning. When you walk in through the mahogany double front doors you know you have made it home. From the custom cabinets (tons of cabinet space), custom built fire place with gas log insert, Marvin wood windows, 3/4” hardwood floors downstairs and Livingstone countertops, no detail was missed. One of my favorite features is the full-size, standup, deep freezer, right beside a matching refrigerator, offering much needed space and convenience all in one place. A huge island in the kitchen separates the kitchen from the living room, a nice open concept, great for entertaining. Right outside the kitchen/living room, through the French doors, is a partially covered deck and the inground pool. The pool area has a super nice pool house with an additional refrigerator, a half bath and covered sitting area, for those that need to get out of the sun for a little while. Back inside, you can enjoy more formal gatherings in the formal dining room, that has another gas log fireplace. From there, you stroll right down the hall to the master suite. The master bath is amazing with his and hers separate closets, tile shower and large soaking tub. Upstairs, you will find the two extra bedrooms, one full bath and a sitting area. All appliances remain, including the washer and dryer! On the property you will find all the buildings and barns you need to operate your mini farm. Let’s start with the detached two story double garage just off southwest corner of the house. The building measures 24.5’ x 24.5’ offering 600 sq. ft of great space for automobiles, a work shop or storage. There are stairs inside and outside that lead up to one bath/one room apartment. This is a very nice feature, the owners lived in it while remodeling the home. It could be used for additional income if chose to rent it out, or for the mother in law when she comes to visit, the choice is yours. It also comes with a beautiful hardwood kitchen table that the owner built and intends to leave. It is cooled with a window unit, and heated with a space heater. Right out back behind the double garage/apartment is a very cool potting shed that is 10’ x 11’ in size with skylights, very handy. And beside it is the home of Henrietta, Gertrude and Bertha, the chickens. The chicken coop really rounds it all out as the perfect mini-farm. It is well taken care of with fresh paint. The kids will surely enjoy raising chickens and gathering eggs, fun for the whole family. As you move to the east side of the property, past the house and toward the horse barn, you will see the RV Shed tucked back in the trees. The perfect place to park your RV out of the elements and out of sight from the house. It comes complete with 30-Amp service, water and sewer hook up. East of the horse barn lies a 24’ x 30’ metal building with a 12’ x 10’ tall roll up door and all utilities.. A perfect place for your tractor, lawn mower and other equipment. Now the key ingredient for you horse lovers, the horse barn. This barn is awesome. It is 38’ x 60’ with six stalls, feed room with washer/dryer hook-ups, tac room, bathroom, wash rack and kitchenette. The four stalls on the west side of the barn open up to the 7 +/- acres of white fenced pasture and pond. A dream come true for the real horseman. After moving in this place you are going to want to buy a Ram truck.
