As the saying goes, “Everything’s bigger in Texas!” Judging by statistics, that absolutely appears to be the truth. Texas is the largest state in the continental United States with over 260,000 square miles of land – that’s over 100,000 square miles larger than the next highest! Texas is also home to about 26.5 million people, making it the second most populous state in the entire country.

Texas, also known as the Lone Star State, is so massive that it’s split up into four different regions with their own distinct climate and geography. These regions are the Great Plains, the Gulf Coastal Plains, the Interior Lowlands, and the Basin and Range Province. This makes the state’s weather highly variable. There will be places in the state’s panhandle where it snows many times per year while other locations in the state rarely ever see snow.

When it comes to horses, Texas has a population of nearly one million horses – that’s about 300,000 higher than California, the next most populated state for horses!  Horse properties and horse farms in Texas are a great investment not just because it’s a heavily horse populated state – much of the state is also centered around equine activities. Texas is known for its enduring love of the cowboy lifestyle and rodeo is one of the more popular activities in Texas. The world’s first rodeo was actually held in Pecos, Texas.
