About New Hampshire

New Hampshire

New Hampshire is in the New England region and borders Canada. The state was named after the southern English county of Hampshire. New Hampshire ranks 44th in land area, 46th in total area of the 50 states, and 42nd in population.

It became the first post-colonial sovereign nation in the Americas when it broke off from Great Britain in January 1776, and was one of the original thirteen states that founded the United States of America six months later. In June 1788, it became the ninth state to ratify the United States Constitution, bringing that document into effect. New Hampshire was the first U.S. state to have its own state constitution.
It is known internationally for the New Hampshire primary, the first primary in the U.S. presidential election cycle. It has no general sales tax, nor is personal income (other than interest and dividends) taxed at either the state or local level.
Its license plates carry the state motto: "Live Free or Die". The state's nickname, "The Granite State", refers to its geology and its tradition of self-sufficiency.
New Hampshire's major recreational attractions include skiing, snowmobiling and other winter sports, hiking and mountaineering, observing the fall foliage, summer cottages along many lakes and the seacoast. The White Mountain National Forest links the Vermont and Maine portions of the Appalachian Trail.

New Hampshire has approximately 24,000 horses.

Winding Brook Farm

Derry, Rockingham County, New Hampshire

NEW PRICE!!! Winding Brook Farm is located in a densely populated area of southern New Hampshire - the perfect location for the serious equestrian entrepreneur to teach, train and continue the excellent business of boarding. The facility is always bustling and activities such as clinics and camps are limited only by your imagination. The property consists of 50 acres with the backland still wooded and a utility easement allowing for good off-farm trail riding. The location is great and within 10 minutes of I-93. The connected buildings making up the facility consists of two mirror-image barns and a bright and inviting indoor arena - a pleasant place to ride and train year-round as the natural light is amazing. The outdoor arena sits behind the complex and gets great use 3 seasons of the year. Sitting at one of the highest points on the land, there's always a breeze and the view over the farm and abutting hayfields fills the senses. The entire exterior of all of these buildings is metal, including the roofs and with the last of the construction finished in 2007, you'll enjoy many, many years of low maintenance here. The turnout is great here as there are several post & rail paddocks, including a stallion paddock for everyday use. The large pastures are wrapped in electric tape for ease of configuration and rotation. Boarders and their horses are happy here! As you approach the farm, a farm manager's house, built in the 1940's, sits along the road. Adjacent to it is an older stall barn that has had the second floor loft "finished" for a variety of uses. Stalls are still intact on the main level and there is water & power. Presently this barn is being used for storage. On the other side of the driveway is the original barn, needing work, but it has 7 stalls if one needs overflow space. These two buildings, each with water and electricity, add the possibility of 17 more stalls! Show stalls? Quarantine? A well organized equestrian could have a lucrative business here!!
