Not your typical luxury horse ranch. But if you desire privacy over visibility at a reasonable price then this may just be what your looking for. Located in the Sierra Foothills approx. 35 miles east of Merced in Mariposa County this hidden jewel is waiting for the adventurist type. Off old Hwy about a mile snuggled away in the hills is this 130 ranch that was primarily used as a cattle ranch. Fully fenced, and crossed fenced the property has a seasonal pond and a beautiful creek that runs through the lower end. Mariposa Creek runs most of the year with watering holes that maintain water nearly all year. The property was once the home of the old "Francis Gold Mine" which still remains today, and is there gold in that creek, who knows. The house is a Manufactured home and in a state of needing repair. There are several small out bldgs. and a two car garage, small cars. The landscape is dotted with Oak trees, Pine, and a variety of native vegetation. The road leading into the property is gravel and in good order and one must pass through three gates to get to the house. From Old Hwy to the second gate is an non-revokeable easement, this section also has livestock roaming on it. If you are the adventurist type and looking for somewhere that is private yet still within driving range of shopping, schools, and medical services then maybe, just maybe this is what you are looking for.

- Manufactured home on raised foundation with separate two car garage, two small cars. Master bdrm. with w/in closet, second bdrm. is large with private entrance and wood burning stove. Laundry room, two pantries, living-room with large Bay windows, and family room with Fireplace. There are five entrances leading into the house, two decks with the front deck being covered. The property has electrical and phone service, well, septic, and a back-up generator system wired directly into the home, although the generator could use an upgrade. Large level front and side yards with large Oak trees and a variety of native and non-native vegetation. The pond sits below the house and has a large water storage tank, and there are small corals for cattle on the road leading to Mariposa Creek. The creek has a nice swimming hole for the kids and a small waterfall and runs for quite a way through the property. There is also an 40' storage container, overhead storage tanks for fuel. One of the tanks supplies diesel fuel to the generator and the other is a free standing tank that I think was used for auto gas.
- Completely fenced and crossed fenced with several gates on the property. There is an old Gold mine on the property, the Francis Mine in which 30 acres were leased to an miner who worked the mine, I'm working with the county to see if the lease is still in effect as he has not worked the mine in several years. Mariposa Creek runs through the property from the upper east end to the lower west end and has a swimming hole and small waterfall, the creek is seasonal and on a good rainy year will run for most of the year and maintain water in some of the deeper holes. The previous owner had cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, and just about every kinda eaten critter he could get. There is a small barn, tac room, and several coops for a variety of fowl he kept. And then there are the critters that are native to the foothills: deer, wild pigs, wild Turkeys, Coyotes, ground squirrels, a variety of birds including Hawks, and you might even see an occasional Eagle flying around or roosting in a tree.
Horse Facility Features
- The previous owner only had one horse and there are not allot of horse amenities on the property. But there are plenty of trails for riding and ample room to build whatever you desire. The small barn is plenty big enough for two horse depending on what you consider "enough room", and there is ample grazing so you're not going to need to feed alfalfa hay all the time.
