Home Features

  • The main residence, called Fox Lodge is situated on a peninsula at the end of a boulder line carriage road one half mile from the entry gate into the estate. The main lodge has about 5,400 square feet of living space on three separate levels. The exterior foot print of the lodge is that of a 6,000 square feet building, the difference being attributed to the full height cathedral ceiling of the living area great room.
  • The lodge and guest cottage were custom designed by Rocky Mountain Log Homes of Montana. The massive logs and glue-lam beams are all of Douglas fir and were brought directly from Montana. Construction began in 1992 and the lodge was move-in ready in the fall of 1994. The interior is designed with the open area concept. The post and beam style facilitates easy placement of new walls or changes to the existing room structure.
  • The interior appointments are too numerous to list. See the photo gallery, or better, schedule an appointment to see them for yourself first hand. Of special note, however, is the full chef’s kitchen. The professional kitchen is viewable from overhead much like the set of a TV cooking show. Also take note of the numerous stained glass windows designed and constructed by the glass artist “Hot Flash Annie” of Bar Harbor, Maine.
  • The present, (original) owners enjoy the property during the summer and fall months. The lodge and buildings are kept year round, however by the housekeeper and by the property manager/care taker. Both are desirous of remaining with the new owners. (A log home for the manager and his family is located near the entry gate. The house keeper lives off site).

Lot Features

  • Outdoor activities are central to the appeal of this property. Big and small game hunting and fishing have been enhanced by careful treatment and improvement to the wild life habitat. Moose, bear, dear, coyote, fox, fish and beaver all benefit from these wildlife habitat enhancements. Native brook trout spawn each October and have been observed far up the feeder brook.
  • Enjoy hiking, biking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ATV’ing on the 6+ miles of trails on the estate. Trails of the estate lead through our gates to Maine’s ATV Trail System, an adventure almost beyond comprehension.
  • A section of the estate has been set aside as the activities field. Originally designed to accommodate the shooting sports of rifle, skeet, pistol, black powder, and archery, the “Shooting Range” has developed into an activities complex large enough for big events: Scout camp outs, meetings of sports clubs, weddings under a tent, and more. A campground area has been prepared for family camping, and everything from tents to pop-ups to full size big-rig class A motor homes can comfortably stay in specially prepared sites. Hiking trails lead directly from the camping area to remote trout ponds, and to the summit of Tunk Mountain (off the estate) where a fire tower stands.
  • There is a small greenhouse and several beautiful raised beds for flowers and vegetables. All the plantings are well thought out and indigenous to the area, including wonderful fruit trees, ornamentals, shrubs and specimen plants that complement one another. Beautiful perennial, annual and herb gardens surround the house. There are 2 separate underground sprinkler systems that utilize lake water for landscape maintenance. The 1/2 mile long rock-lined entry drive is planted with rhododendrons, mountain laurel and other natural ornamental specimens.
